On these Japanese folding screens, drawings are painted elaborately onto the cloth by hand which is knitted with thread made of twined natural silk. Since the thickness of thread is not regular, some places are painted unevenly which is a special characteristic of hand made folding screens giving you more of a feel for the texture and style. (Please refer to the photographs.) This is one of the ways in which a hand made folding screen differs from a printed screen.
